Unemployment continues to rise and folks are getting darn-right, nervous! Is it becoming an epidemic, perhaps a depression? No one knows for sure but the indicators surely are not promising either way.
An alternative measure of unemployment includes other groups, such as people who have become discouraged and stopped looking and people who are working fewer hours than they would like for economic reasons. If those groups are included, the unemployment rate in April was 15.8 percent, up slightly from 15.6 percent in March.
These facts are unnerving especially when our country's "moral" is being effected. If you are out of work and nothing seems to be working, it's time to step out of your comfort zone and explore things you would have never considered before.
Here are some things to consider when "life" seem to throw you a curve ball:
- What core value can you offer any company or business?
- What are you really good at?
- How about your passion for a hobby or sport? Look at companies that may be hiring in that area.
- Consider turning your passion or hobby into a business - think about this - it's doable!
- Take stock of your finances and get your arms around a sound budget to better understand "how much" you need and how long you can go before running out. Build your own plan around this area first!
- Network, network, network! Use your Facebook or Twitter or whatever social site you prefer to get your name or resume out there. It works...get your name out there!
Either way, "think-out-side-the-box"....yes, a highly over-used term like, "Just Do It" but forget that and embrace it's meaning.
